HIGH WATER DASHBOARD FOR ASIA

The High Water Dashboard for Asia shows the current picture relating to flood protection. The dashboard can be used in an operational situation. Users can opt to include specific meters in their own existing systems. The desired result of the project is to build strong examples in Southeast Asia for urban flood management. Here, the focus will be on the Jakarta urban area (in Indonesia).

The project serves a number of broader objectives:

This project looks at the following research issue: how can we make better use of the latest developments in the field of IT and Flood Control 2015 with a view to generating extra value for flood control? It was decided to adopt Jakarta as the research location. Floods in Jakarta are a weekly occurrence. As a result, a lot of data is available about decisions, and even more so because the data has not yet been fully exploited. During the research, it will be important to continue to match up with the stakeholders' wishes and existing procedures.

The project distinguishes between five steps on the road to the desired final result. In addition, there will be a focus on the techniques that can be used. It is important to establish a clear picture with respect to the potential and feasibility of these proposed solutions. There will also be a study of the best way for the local stakeholders to put the results into practice.
